10 COMMUNITY GROUPS TO GET DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT

Kings Norton New Deal for Communities have approved the Fit 4 Purpose Project.  The project will offer up to 10 Community Groups located on the 3 Estates, Kings Norton a package of support that will directly address gaps in their organisational development by developing and delivering a tailored programme of capacity building based on the needs of up to ten voluntary/community groups on the 3 Estates.

A needs assessment will be undertaken , and deliver a range of support, via a combination of training, coaching, mentoring etc, to assist identified organisations to develop sustainable funding strategies and strategic plans and which will enable them to engage in and develop projects that will continue to contribute to the regeneration of the 3 Estates.

There are four key areas of delivery.

¨      Governance: core governance support and training for Management Committee Members in relation to understanding of their roles and responsibilities as well as advice on business planning, full cost recovery, IT, legal matters, etc.; attracting the right people onto Management Committees; and developing Committee Members as volunteers.

¨      Funding (particularly core funding), identifying potential funding sources, making applications etc

¨      Organisational Development: Specific areas for more development and support include business planning, marketing and recruitment, risk assessment and quality assurance.

¨      Volunteer Development: dissemination of good practice guidelines in relation to volunteering and working with organisations to develop their internal capacity to recruit and manage volunteers.
