VOLUNTEERING PLACEMENT PROJECT GETS APPROVAL

Kings Norton New Deal for Communities has approved a project that will engage with residents particularly targeting young men aged 16 to 35 to support them into volunteering opportunities and placements.

This project will build upon the best traditions of volunteering nationally, developing skills and creating opportunities for all those involved. It will contribute towards creating a legacy that will sustain the benefits of the New Deal for Communities programme and enrich individuals and communities across the area. The 3 Estates has a strong tradition of volunteering, and it is essential that the creation of a larger volunteer workforce builds upon, enhances and complements that activity and tradition.

Project Activities

The project will work with individuals who have not been involved as volunteers previously. It will target its work towards men aged between 16 and 35 years and individuals from BME communities.  Delivery will be centred around 4 key areas:

  • Volunteering Campaign to generate interest and raise the profile of volunteering as well as to advertise specific opportunities
  • Mapping volunteer vacancies and developing a database of opportunities
  • Induction Programme working with individuals recruited to the project to assess their needs and wants and develop a Personal Development Plan so that become ‘volunteer ready.’
  • Volunteer Placement(s) where individuals are placed and supported into suitable volunteer vacancies
